I want to welcome you...

Thank you for visiting my site.  My specialty is working with children and adolescents. I understand the challenges that parents experience in raising children in our culture. I am a child psychologist in private practice and an Adjunct Professor in the Graduate School of Professional Psychology at the University of St. Thomas.

I believe it is important in choosing to work with a psychologist or therapist that you know about my skills and experience. On my site you will find information related to my training and experience. I provide both psychotherapy and psychological testing services in my practice.

Psychological Assessments

I provide psychological testing and assessment in the following areas:

  • ADHD evaluations for both children and adults
  • Cognitive and intellectual testing
  • Visual and auditory attention
  • Assessment of learning and memory
  • Academic achievement
  • Level of adaptive skill development
  • Evaluation of executive functioning
  • Personality and emotional adjustment
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder evaluations
  • Forensic assessments
  • Parenting assessments and child custody evaluation

In choosing a psychologist it is important to choose a therapist with whom you are comfortable working and with whom you feel that you can develop a strong relationship. Research on psychotherapy has shown that clients and therapists can identify whether a therapeutic relationship is a good match for them by the third session. Therefore, I strongly urge my clients to evaluate their progress and satisfaction with me in the early stages of treatment. I will listen carefully to you and work together with you to define your concerns, develop goals and strategies to help you resolve your concerns.

Therapy can involve a large commitment of time, money, and energy, so you should be very careful about the therapist you select. If you have questions about my procedures or competencies, we should discuss them whenever they arise.

My therapeutic approach utilizes cognitive-behavioral, interpersonal, family systems, and attachment perspectives. I develop treatment plans with all clients which identify the issues that bring a family into therapy, methods of treatment, length of treatment, and treatment goals.
